Daily speaking practice

Throughout the week, I will use Google Meet to host conversations with students in 5th and 6th of primary.

The conversations will be 6-7 minutes long, in groups of 2, and we will discuss a range of topics. The activities will incorporate speaking and listening practice into their routines at home. As students are reading and completing their assignments, I will be complimenting the assignments with spoken practice. This will give the students the opportunity to have a more complete experience with the language learning process. As language learning is comprised of four main skills; reading, writing, listening and speaking, the practice on Google Meet will enhance the students’ competence in English. We will use storytelling and other activities to review topics such as past tense verbs, pronoun agreement and connection words. We will also review the vocabulary from the previous units that the students have been studying. My goal is to engage the students in active use of the language and to allow the students to think creatively. Storytelling is a great way to practice the aforementioned topics, as the students will have to connect past events in a coherent manner. This means, the students will have to practice proper verb conjugation, use descriptive words, and connect the storyline using words such as; first, second, later, finally… I hope to integrate the main language skills and improve students’ ability and confidence in using spoken language
