Interviews to native english speakers III

REUBEN GRIVELL

What is your name and where are you from?
A My name’s Reuben and I’m from Brighton in the UK.

Why did you choose this school and this country to work?
A I chose to live and work here because I love teaching and I’m keen to explore a new country. I have previously lived in Seville and loved the culture and the way of life there. I’m looking forward to getting to know Catalunya better, and am eager to improve on my Castilian (and maybe even pick up a bit of Catalan). I also like the sense of community at La Farga, it’s a very sociable and friendly atmosphere here.

In which grade do you work with in La Farga?
A I work with grades 1 all the way up to 6. Infantil and primary.

What do you think of your actual job? Is it challenging, demanding?
A I find my job very rewarding. It’s exciting getting to meet so many new people and to be able to see my students progress.

Why do you think students have willingness or desire to learn english?
A A lot of my students have said they are eager to learn English as they would like to travel and maybe even live in English speaking countries when they are older.

How do you encourage students to learn or improve their spoken English?
A Speaking about things that interest them and encouraging them to use language that relates to their daily lives is a good way to get them engaged.
